When Hideo Kojima walked out on stage during the Microsoft E3 Press Conference, there were two immediate thoughts running through everyone’s mind: Could it be? Metal Gear Solid 4 finally?
“Well Don. I didn’t say anything about Solid Snake”.
And with one sentance Kojima dashed the hopes of Xbox 360 fans everywhere hoping for that all-important port. Instead, Microsoft was going to get a brand new Metal Gear Solid game; MGS: Rising. And it’s based on the character Raiden.
But wait, come back from the ledge Xbox 360 fans. Just because it’s not a Solid Snake Metal Gear Solid game, doesn’t mean Konami doesn’t care about it. And although Kojima has put this game under the careful guise of his team so he can conentrate on MGS: Peace Walker for the PSP, that doesn’t mean the game won’t be good.
And of course this wasn’t completely happy news for PS3 forum gamers as well. Most people were hoping for Metal Gear Solid 5 for the Playstation 3. And since Kojima-san did say at one point that Peace Walker would be his MGS5, that left them MGS: Rising as well.
In fact, website Metal Gear Scholar went through the latest MGS podcast from Konami and found that they are building a brand new engine for this game that they (Konami) claim will outshine Metal Gear Solid 4! We listened to the podcast as well, but we are crediting them for actually pointing some of us gamers to that podcast. And they have a wealth of other good MGS info there so check them out!
Kojima Productions had this to say about the engine for Rising:
“We’re redoing the engine from scratch, and it’s going to look amazing. It’s going to be a big project like Metal Gear Solid 4. The entire team is serious about making it look as good as possible on every platform.”
So how about being patient and giving Metal Gear Solid: Rising a chance before just shrugging it off as an unimportant spin-off.
Anyway, head over to Metal Gear Scholar for more on this and Peace Walker. And then check back with us for more information when we get it on Metal Gear Solid: Rising!
