It was revealed by Epic Games’ community manager that the Lancer and Hammerburst avatar props will no longer be available to purchase after January 1st due to a new policy on Xbox Live.
It was announced on the official Epic Games forum:
Heads up! Starting on Jan. 1, 2012, the Lancer and Hammerburst avatar items will no longer be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. If you’ve purchased the items prior to Jan. 1, you will be able to keep them. A new policy goes into effect for all gun-like avatar items on the Marketplace, so get them while they’re hot.
The Xbox Live policy states that Microsoft will no longer distribute “gun-like” avatar items. They won’t be sold after January 1st, however people will still be able to purchase them before hand, and use them after the date closes.
So far, the Hammerburst and Lancer seem to be the only props that resemble “gun-like” items, so they’re the only props to down after January 1st.
