What’s with Capcom?

So it’s been said that Capcom has reduced the time it takes for them to release new games. About a year or two to be exact. Now gamers can expect new Capcom games almost every year. But this may come with some consequences not only for the game developers, but also for the gamers as well. With the reduced time period to develop games, there will be a high probability that not all the bugs in the games will be fixed, game controls will be out of line, and the game overall will be unpolished. Being a huge Capcom fan myself, I hope that this decision by Capcom does not affect the overall performance of their games. I just hope that they don’t disappoint all the Capcom fans out there with a dumbed down game.

Explodemon coming for PlayStation 3.

Gamasutra has announced a new game coming to the PlayStation Network  in Q4. The game is Explodemon, a 2.5D Side-scrolling adventure influenced by classical Japanese games in the “Golden Era” of the SNES days. Players will be able to fly through the air, solve a variety of physic-based puzzles, and more.

“We’re really excited to finally be able to reveal Explodemon! to the world,” explains design director Jonathan Biddle, from a blast-proof bunker somewhere below the surface of Nibia.

“The game is chock full of gameplay nuggets carefully mined from the greatest titles ever to grace our joysticks. Whether you’re experiencing its intense combat, head-scratching puzzles, or classic platforming, you’ll find we’ve combined all of these elements into an addictive and elegantly balanced package.”

  • Explodemon! is a 2.5D-styled platform game with a physics-puzzle twist
  • It’s out Q4 2010
  • It’s influenced by the classic Japanese games of old
  • It’s more than a little bit funny, or so our mums said
  • It’s really rather special and you want to write nice things about it

Earthworm Jim HD for PlayStation 3!

The Sega era had to be one of my favorite video gaming eras of all time due to all the time consumed with the Sega Genesis console. Simply put: I grew up with the Sega Genesis having played many of the classical 16-bit games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Comix Zone, and one of my favorites, Earthworm Jim. Only the true Sega nerds know what I’m talking about.

If you remember Earthworm Jim, you would know that the game was extremely comical, humorous and full of stellar fun! It’s one of those games that anyone could go back and play for hours on in. I loved it, in fact, I still power up the old Sega Genesis every now and then to play it. I’ve been wanting an HD Version of the game for awhile now, and yes, I know it was available for the Xbox Live Arcade first, but I wanted a version where my cousin and I could play and relive the good ol 16-bit goodness.

Light has now been shed for my cousin and I and retro gamers across the world. Earthworm Jim is coming to the PlayStation 3 in full, no holds barred, High Definition.

Gameloft has remastered the game in HD which will include:

  • All the original Single Player levels
  • 3 never before seen levels and settings
  • 2-4 player co-op
  • 15 multiplayer levels
  • Cow launching

Earthworm Jim will be making his PS3 debut on August 3rd, 2010.

PRICE: $9.99

StarCraft II: Wings Of Liberty Review

Twelve years ago, Blizzard released a realtime strategy game by the name of StarCraft that took the world by storm.  After a decade of waiting and pwning protoss, millions upon millions of fans now get the sequel to their all time favorite RTS with StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.

StarCraft II:Wings of Liberty is the second installment to the starcraft franchise, but the third game of the series(fans understand) which takes four years after the second game StarCraft:Brood War.  Wings of Liberty is the first of a trilogy of expansion packs for StarCraft II which are set to release in September, though I digress.

The game includes three species that you’re able to control; The Terrans who are human exiles from earth, the Zerg a race of insectoids genetic assimilators, and the Protoss a species with vast psionic power.

Wings of Liberty follows Jim Raynor and friends as they go up against the autocratic Terran Dominion.

CAMPAIGN: StarCraft Fans will cherish this storyline, bringing back old characters from the original and answering old age questions like “what the hell happened to kerrigan?”  Its a great playthrough and I reccomend it even for the casual gamer.

ONLINE MODE: Fans will love the online mode, with the new ability to highlight and replay previous battles with the new replay function. StarCraft consists of fastpaced combat, Players must stay on their feet and consistently harvest materials to build their armies and be prepared to attack and defend at all times in the online versus mode. My first match lasted Seven minutes, My humans were overrun by Zerg scum, because my opponent was quicker to manifest everything. At the end of it all I was labeled NOOB. But during the midst of it all I found myself thinking like a commander, such as where to place my troops, which units would I send out first? HOW THE HELL DID HE GET 27 MECHS ALREADY!?  Starcraft II brings back the nostalgia of its epic online gameplay and then some for the new gamers.

Graphics: Depending on the type of graphics card you have, it will either be a stellar experiance or a dizzy one for you.

Sound: Epic symphonies and great in game music to battle to!

Verdict: StarCraft II Wings of Liberty is a MUST BUY for all StarCraft fans and RTS Specialists. With myself being a casual RTS player, I was consumed by this epic online experiance and I can’t wait for the next expansions to release.

Machinima’s Top Ten Series

Hello everybody!  Czymf 562 here today to tell you about one of my all time favorite series, Machinima’s Top 10 Series!

I come to this series every week to check out the latest and greatest Modern Warfare 2 videos.  Don’t ignore this post just yet if you can’t stand MW2, they have videos for all sorts of different games, including Halo: Reach and many more.

The reason I just love these guys is they have the passion for gaming that you can feel.  You can tell that they love their jobs and enjoy every second of it.  Another great reason to watch these video’s is that they do not just focus on one system,  because the videos are all sent in from actually players, they get video’s from all different consoles.

The whole entire series is great, but my favorite would have to be the Modern Warfare 2: Top 5 Nuke Freakout Reactions: Special Episode by Anoj . (Video Bellow) Which coincidentally, isn’t even a top 10, its a top 5.  This video has to be some of the funniest things I have ever heard.  Please check out ALL of the Machinima content and I promise you will NOT be disappointed.

Thanks for reading and oh yeah, “I GOT DE NOOK!!!”

Czymf 562 out.

Take Call of Duty: Black Ops On The Go!

Handheld gaming has increased in the last few years, and with it, demand for AAA title-like games on each platform. The Nintendo DS has grasped a large number of the handheld market, embarrassingly selling out the likes of the Sony PSP. It is no surprise to us that Activision plans to release a DS Version of Call of Duty Black Ops. You heard it right.

“Activison plans to release a DS Version of Call of Duty Black Ops

That’s exactly what I said. The critically acclaimed franchise makes its way to the DS once again after proving itself with Call of Duty: Mobilized and World at War, both of which were exceptionally great DS titles, with the latest installment in the series, Black Ops.

Call of Duty: Black Ops for the Nintendo DS is going to take the handheld Call of Duty experience to a new level,” said Dan O’Leary, n-Space Studio Head.

“From taking the controls of an attack helicopter to flying an experimental stealth fighter jet, players will have a wealth of new features to utilize.”

Call of Duty Black Ops for the Nintendo DS will feature Six Player Multipler, New Perks, as well as a Two Player Co-Op mode with special challenges allowing players to play single player missions to earn extra points to earn additional achievements.

The DS Version of Black Ops will release along side the console versions. It’ll be rated ‘T’ for Teen and will be developed my N-Space. As were all the other DS Call of Duty games.
