New Xbox 360 Controller on the Way [UPDATED]

The rumors of an upcoming Xbox 360 controller design have officially been addressed by Microsoft. According to a few of these rumors, the new design would allow players to customize their D-pads for a better Fighting game experience with titles like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. The latest controller design will be released with the Play & Charge Kit in earlier 2011.

As expected, Microsoft issued a press releasing confirming most of the info we needed.

This November, Xbox 360 owners will be able to alter their controller with the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller with Play & Charge Kit – with Transforming D-pad. The matte silver controller contains a transforming directional pad that provides ultimate accuracy and control for both directional as well as sweeping movements. The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller with Transforming D-pad comes complete with a Play and Charge kit for $64.99 (U.S. ERP) and will ship to retailers beginning Nov. 9.

Select the traditional plus for distinct cardinal direction movement in games like “Halo: Reach” to change weapons and perform complicated combinations and deadly finishing moves in “Street Fighter” games, or rotate the D-pad to the disc format for sweeping motions in games such as “Pro Evolution Soccer 2011.” Choose your favorite controller set-up and experience unrivaled precision for all Xbox 360 games.

The award-winning Xbox 360 Wireless Controller is taken to the next level with a unique and premium button design, a matte silver color with grey A, B, X, Y buttons and comfortable, concave analog sticks. The Play & Charge Kit includes a charging cable and rechargeable battery pack for uninterrupted gameplay and up to 25 hours of play per charge.

If that wasn’t enough, Stephen Toulouse released a new photo on his Twitter account. Yes, this is in fact the new controller. The D-Pad can twist and morph into individual buttons. The new controller looks totally sweet!

Firstly, after undergoing extreme beta testing in the PlayStation community, Zipper Interactive is happy to announce two all new Player Slots for fans of the massive first person shooter to enjoy. The feature will be coming to the game next week on August 31st which will allow players to break their limitations of having one PMC character at a time. No need to worry about completely abandoning your fellow RAVEN, VALOR, or S.V.E.R brethren anymore.

Netflix Disc and PlayStation 3 Will No Longer Be A Factor

Disc are so 2006! And according to Joystiq, Sony and Netflix have realized that inserting the Netflix disc is so senior status! PlayStation Netflix subscribers will be able to freely dispose of the bothersome Netflix disc come this October after a major interface change to the Streaming Service that will be cohesive to the PlayStation 3 console. EO Reed Hastings stated,

“Before our next [earnings] call in October, we expect to be launching a major new version of our Sony PS3 user interface which doesn’t require a disc, and is dynamically updated continuously with the latest Netflix UI improvements.”

Joystiq also received comments from the guys who control HuluPlus App on PlayStation 3. They said that they will,

“welcome the competition for media streaming on PS3 … and prime placement on the XMB.”

SEGA Announces new voice actors for the Sonic the Hedeghog Series.

Earlier today, SEGA announced their new line-up of voice actors for the Sonic Franchise! As a Sonic fan, this is very pleasing music to my ears. Sonic the Hedgehog has been notorious for having whack voice-over work due to the infamous Jason Griffith. Don’t get me wrong, J-Griff had an excellent Sonic voice, however his acting was pure cheese.

And who are the new voice actors? Well, the new Sonic voice-actor shouldn’t be a stranger to video games. The new Sonic has portrayed Chris Redfield from Resident Evil 5, and Ezio Auditore from Assassin’s Creed 2. If you know his name, shout it out- Roger Craig Smith. He has done various video game voice-overs from games like Resident Evil 5, Assassin’s Creed 2, SoulCalibur IV, Valkyria Chronicles, MadWorld, Resonance of Fate, Crazy Taxi and has also played in a few anime roles including the Naruto series.

As you can tell, this guy has had more experience then just a measly anime role. Can’t wait to hear the new Sonic voice in action! Get a first glimpse of his work in the upcoming Sonic Colors (Wii) and Sonic Free Riders (Xbox 360 – Kinect)

ROGER CRAIG SMITH – SONIC THE HEDGEHOG

Also in the line up, the new Tails voice actor, Kate Higgins.

I haven’t actually heard this chick in action, but according to SEGA, she has had some experience in the video game world in games like Valkyria Chronicles and MadWorld, and also a few anime roles including the Naruto series. She seems like a friend of Roger up there. . . probably how she got the job in the first place. She’s also a talented pianist and vocalist and has produced a few albums. Glad to know the new Tails will be able to sing and play the piano.

KATE HIGGINS – MILES ‘TAILS’ PROWER

And finally, a returning crew member- Mike Pollock.

He’s voiced Eggman since 2005. Admittedly, I think this guy has the perfect voice for Sonic’s nemesis and I was hoping he would stay. Thankfully, Mike will stil be voice acting as Eggman. Hopefully SEGA will amp up the acting level in future Sonic games and expand on his talents. Mike Pollock has had similar experience to J-Griff, the old Sonic voice actor, by playing in various anime roles including Sonic X.

MIKE POLLOCK – DR. IVORY “EGGMAN” ROBOTNIK

There you have it folks! Your new Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor line up! Seems like a pretty good list so far and I surely can’t wait to hear them in Sonic Colors and Sonic Free Riders!
