WipEout in the Real World

The hit video game series wipEout has been recreated for a real world experience. German Designer Malte Jehmlich has constructed a wipEout track made completely out of carboard with a radio controlled car that’s controlled with an arcade-styled booth. The booth has a steering wheel and a screen linked to the camera attached to the car. The 2 month project seems to be a stellar success!

The Chipophone!

Hey guys, Czymf 562 here with something just crazy (Get the irony?). This man Linus Åkesson, from Lund, Sweden, has created a device that plays music that just tickles my soul. As Linus puts it “The Chipophone is a homemade 8-bit synthesizer, especially suited for live chiptune playing. It has been built inside an old electronic organ. All the original tone-generating parts have been disconnected, and the keys, pedals, knobs and switches rerouted to a microcontroller which transforms them into MIDI signals. Those are then parsed by a second microcontroller, which acts as a synthesizer.”

From an old organ that his friend got at a thrift store, Linus turned it into an instrument that could wake Snorlax up. Check out this video of Linus explaining and playing his creation.

And my favorite video, “The Legend of Zelda”

You can check out Linus’ page here for more information and more videos.

My only suggestion, borrowed from one of the commenters on Linus’ web page, It needs a NES paint job.

Thank you all, Czymf 562 out.

Machinima’s Top Ten Series

Hello everybody!  Czymf 562 here today to tell you about one of my all time favorite series, Machinima’s Top 10 Series!

I come to this series every week to check out the latest and greatest Modern Warfare 2 videos.  Don’t ignore this post just yet if you can’t stand MW2, they have videos for all sorts of different games, including Halo: Reach and many more.

The reason I just love these guys is they have the passion for gaming that you can feel.  You can tell that they love their jobs and enjoy every second of it.  Another great reason to watch these video’s is that they do not just focus on one system,  because the videos are all sent in from actually players, they get video’s from all different consoles.

The whole entire series is great, but my favorite would have to be the Modern Warfare 2: Top 5 Nuke Freakout Reactions: Special Episode by Anoj . (Video Bellow) Which coincidentally, isn’t even a top 10, its a top 5.  This video has to be some of the funniest things I have ever heard.  Please check out ALL of the Machinima content and I promise you will NOT be disappointed.

Thanks for reading and oh yeah, “I GOT DE NOOK!!!”

Modern Warfare 2: Intervention Review

There are 4 sniper rifles to choose from in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Among these, the Intervention bolt action sniper rifle has to be one of the most disappointing sniper rifles in the game. It surely is used by professional players due to the single fire and smaller clip capacity, but really, it’s nothing compared to the Barrett .50 cal. Though the Intervention is very powerful and may kill opponents with a single bullet, the Barrett seems to have an even higher chance of granting that.

The Barrett also has a semi-automatic capability which allows users to fire as fast as they can pull the trigger. This can kill in one bullet when combined with stopping power and a silencer. And it also has the capability to kill with one bullet without a silencer and with any other perk attached to it.

The Intervention however, fires with a bolt action capacity. This means the user must recock the gun, which takes up extra time to fire another shot. And in my own experience, and from some of my friends’ experiences, they get a lot of hit markers, whereas, with the Barrett, they can easily snipe enemies from afar with ease and usually with single bullets. And, on a side note, the Intervention sounds much more menacing in single player (Just as some other guns).

I believe that this sniper rifle should have been made a one hit kill in order to promote its use over that of the Barrett’s. Infinity Ward seems to have made lots of mistakes, but I believe this is among the ones that should really have been fixed a long time ago. Either way, these sniper rifles are used depending on their user’s preference. They all accent the styles of their users in their various ways in the end.

Product Review: Turtle Beach Earforce PX21′s

Before you begin to read my review, I would like to get this out of the way: My first pair of Turtle Beaches ended up defective. Much like any great product, a few just don’t make it out as great as they should. With that, I was able to experience Turtle Beach’s customer support. I will not be basing my review off the customer support or the first defective pair I received. In part, this will be based off the replacement second pair. I will go into detail with the experience of my first pair, but I that’s the only time I will mention them. If you wish to read about my customer support experience, read passed the score at the end. Thank you.

EA Shows love for PlayStation 3. PS3 is “On fire”

In a recent interview with Electronic Arts COO John Schappert regarding the PS3, he expressed his feelings towards the console saying that it was “On Fire” all in part due to Sony’s new business approach and marketing. After two exclusive deals with Sony to release Medal of Honor and Dead Space 2 as Special Edition versions to PlayStation 3, it’s pretty valid that EA loves the PlayStation 3.

“We’re platform agnostic. We sell more software on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 than anybody. That being said, we partnered with Sony on the press conference; we were on their stage and got to announce some things.”

“I wouldn’t read too much into what we’re showing the demos on, but I will tell you, in the marketplace, the PlayStation 3 is doing incredibly well.”

Mr Schappert proceeds to compliment Sony’s ad campaign regarding Kevin Butler. He also mentions the use of Bluray, in which has played a significant role to adding more content without taking away from a core experience.

“Since Sony changed the PS3 form factor, rolled out the Kevin Butler marketing campaign, and launched some great content, the box is on fire. Now the problem is you haven’t been able to find it at retail, it’s been out of stock. But I think they’ll fix that soon.”

“We were able to make use of the Blu-ray disc with the larger storage space and add additional content on the disc without sacrificing anything from the core game.”

As a final blow, John Schappert goes on to say that these were the great opportunities they had with Sony vs. the competition.

“We partner with Microsoft on a ton of products, but those are just two good opportunities we had with Sony that we wanted to highlight.”

Don’t worry though. The Xbox is on fire as well. . . quite literally.

Gears of War “Number One Fan”

Every video game series has it’s crazy fanbase of freaks. I’ve met some of the most insane Halo fans, Final Fantasy freaks, Mario nutcases, and even Sonic obsessed lunatics. . . .*ahem* Not that my “SonicRiderZG8″ Gamertag has anything to do with it.

I’ve met every kind of nutjob on this planet. Just as I thought I knew the biggest Gears of War fruit loop to ever spawn on planet Earth, this guy had to go and ruin it for me. He is known as “iSekC” on the internet and has even given Cliffy B a laughing job with his recent video. I don’t blame Cliffy for laughing and deeming him the “#1″ Gears fan. This guy is weird. In a positive sense, of course! We here at the GCN enjoy the presence of freaks, including this one! Congrats, iSekC.
