Two years ago, Xbox Live gamers moaned with disappointment when Microsoft announced a $10 increase to their premium based Xbox Live online gaming service that only added to the burden of having to pay to play online, a service offered for free on other platforms. The $60 price was a deal breaker for many, including myself. So now is your chance to hop back online and play with your buddies again.

Speculation point’s finger to the company’s recent trademark which was file last year, “Yami no Mori”, which roughly translates to “Dark Forest” or “Forest of Darkness”. Could it be hinting to a new area or location in the world of Dark Souls?

It could be possible, seeing as how the game has many hidden areas that can only be access by finding invisible paths or breaking down walls, it wouldn’t be so difficult to plant in a new location and just pile stuff in front of the entrance. For now, we wait for further news from the developers themselves to verify the rumour, and even if they say that it’s a fake rumour, we won’t take ‘no’ for an answer! The newsletter, that was accidentally posted by Disney, revealed that Epic Mickey 2 is set to release in December 2012 and will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. It was also confirmed that Epic Mickey 2 will have a cooperative multiplayer mode that will allow players to take control of either Mickey Mouse or Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Much like the original title, players will be pressured to make decisions throughout the game that will affect how the world changes and how the game ends.

Here’s the prematurely released newsletter:

“Disney Epic Mickey 2 is the latest game in the critically acclaimed Disney Epic Mickey videogame series. In this all-new action-platforming game available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, Mickey embarks on an epic journey and is pulled back into a world filled with Disney’s forgotten characters. Players can choose to play single-player as Mickey or for the first time players can also choose two-player split screen mode. In the two-player mode one person can play as Mickey wielding magic paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world and the second player can play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit – Walt Disney’s first cartoon star – with the power to fly like a helicopter and use electricity to fight or friend enemies and solve challenges. Launched in 2010, Epic Mickey allowed players to take control of Mickey Mouse as he journeyed through a forgotten Disney world filled with Disney’s forgotten characters and regions. Epic Mickey was not only a grand revival for the popular mouse, it re-introduced Mickey in a whole new, slightly darker, light that we’ve come to love, marking Mickey as a video game icon. Given Epic Mickey’s success, it’s no surprise to us that Junction Point has decided to release a sequel.

The game is said to release in December 2012 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.

[UPDATE] Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 has been confirmed to have a new graphical and physics engine. The physics engine is said to fix issues with Sonic sticking to walls, and to remain in his spin dash state when rolling down a hill. Episode 2 will also be expanding on its platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, iOS, and Android devices.

In addition to video games available at retail stores, Nintendo also offers a variety of content that people can download directly to their systems. Nintendo adds new titles to the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo 3DS system, to the Nintendo DSi Shop for the Nintendo DSi system and to the Wii Shop Channel for the Wii console at 9 a.m. Pacific time on Thursdays.

The Nintendo eShop is a cash-based service and features games, applications and videos in both 2D and 3D. Users can add money to their virtual wallets using a credit card or by purchasing a Nintendo 3DS Prepaid Card at a retail store and entering the code from the card.

Vanguard Bandits was originally released in glorious box form from famed publisher Working Designs. Created by Human Software and released in 1998 in Japan, the game captivated users with its tactical combat and support-centric strategy role-playing. Set in a medieval fantasy world, armored mecha are controlled by the residing pilots who can maneuver on an isometric grid of squares. 3D battle animations take place over the grid, while cut scenes play out the story. The character list, location variety and event schedule add up to an incredible amount of intense gameplay and longevity spread over three story branches and five different endings.

Along with selling Android and Apple products, they will also start on creating their own GameStop (R) brand Tablet loaded with tons of games. Some of the tablets sold in-store will also come pre-bundled with many games to play on, but the prices at which they are ranged at are outrages. Speculated to be around $500, it seems a bit too high even for the biggest tablet fanatic (Don’t hear the words “Tablet” followed by “Fanatic” in the same sentence everyday, do you?). You’d probably be better off searching Amazon or Ebay for a nice tablet at around $100. Other places where you’d be guaranteed a great tablet would be Best Buy and Target, heck, even Wal-Mart could sell you a tablet lower than $500.

So far on the Android market I have not found anything that has really, really impressed me. I might be better off using those $500 smackers to get myself a New Console and even a game or two.

In my opinion, I’d think this stunt won’t last for too long. Unless GameStop can conjure a variety of brands and give their customers a reason for buying one, I’d doubt they’ll be selling for too long. People walk into GameStop to buy Video Games, Video Gaming Consoles and Video Game Accessories… Not neccessarily interested in tablets. Then again, they are testing it out for a bit to see if it’ll work out. In the end, I think they’ll resort to gaming only once more.
