It’s that time of year again football fans when another Madden NFL game is released, and all football fans can be found glued to their respective videogame consoles.  What’s new this year?  The motto for this year’s gameplay is to be Simpler,Quicker, and Deeper.

With the introduction of the new Gameflow play call option, players are now given plays for them to executue within the game. Although this feature may turn off some of the more advanced Madden players, Gameflow provides a more in depth feel of  how real NFL players recieve their plays from their offensive/defensive coordinators and helps more of the novice players out. Control wise, YOU ARE IN CONTROL For the first time in a Madden game all the offensive  moves can be done via the right joy sticks, and you will feel like you are the superstars, based on how well you play and react to buttons, not to pre rendered animations. Although defense may take a slight handicap in this new control scheme, your success is based on how well you work the sticks. Continue Reading

The SNES, Sega Genesis, Gameboy, NES  are consoles that most veteran video gamers grew up with or were born into. It was a way of life for many of us at a very young age and we all enjoyed it. These were the days when video games weren’t mainstream, but rather an “underground” form of entertainment. Back when, the creativity of video games was high with some originality, unlike today where every game tries to resemble a movie. Games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Earthworm Jim, Double Dragon, Mario Bros, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and A Boy and his Blob. These games had a plot, but it wasn’t about that. It was about the fun of the game while being able to maintain understanding of what little plot it had. Despite the visuals not looking “realistic,” many games back in the day had uniquely creative 2D Visual styles.

Gaming has since then come a long way with cinematic graphics and top notch acting. I have to admit, I miss the early 1990’s video games. The nostalgia has been cured all thanks to Ubisoft’s latest game, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

Rockstar is best known for making top-tier sandbox franchises like the Grand Theft Auto series, which garnered high critical response from various magazine and websites for many years since 1997.

It’s no surprise that after nearly thirteen years of developing a stream of successful titles, they would be making their way to the current generation of consoles with a game like Grand Theft Auto 4. The game offered one of the best sandbox experiences I have ever had the pleasure of playing on account of it’s spectacular story telling, active gaming environments in a massive world, and a bundle of extreme satisfaction.

Before you begin to read my review, I would like to get this out of the way: My first pair of Turtle Beaches ended up defective. Much like any great product, a few just don’t make it out as great as they should. With that, I was able to experience Turtle Beach’s customer support. I will not be basing my review off the customer support or the first defective pair I received. In part, this will be based off the replacement second pair. As a kid I’ve enjoyed going to the arcade every chance I could. I’d have a pocket full of quarters to play a few games with my friends and I’d have fun with it. It was never about the multiplayer as it was about the high score. The High Score Chart was the place to place your initials to prove to your fellow arcade-goers that you were top dog. Back then having your name on a High Score Chart was equivalent to a Championship Trophy. Each game that contained your initials in the High Scores was your “Championship Trophy”. Personally I had a few great moments at my fellow arcades. I had three “Championship Trophies” of my own in House of the Dead One and Two, as well as Super Monkey Ball. I was pretty pro in the arcades. I’m not sure about now. I’ve been MIA from the arcade scene for quite sometime now.

A few years back, EA and DICE decided to release a title that delivered comedic relief to First Person Shooters with a game titled Battlefield: Bad Company. Despite it being released during the Call of Duty 4 era, I enjoyed it for it’s hilarious campaign and fun Gold Rush online play. Bad Company had many flaws, however, it added many adjustments to the FPS genre. One thing I loved about Bad Company was the Frostbite Engine and what it was able to do.

It’s rare that we ever get to see Sonic joining the rest of his Sega Friends for a friendly game of anything. The last Sega Group meeting was back in 2008 when Sega and SUMO Entertainment decided to place their top characters on the Tennis Courts for some competitive fun. The game was mildly entertaining and felt repetitive at most. The game didn’t feature anything ground breaking that we haven’t seen before, which is why I didn’t feel it as much as others did.

SOCOM US NAVY SEALs was one of Sony’s flagship franchises on the PlayStation 2 that served gamers a tactical based experience on the home consoles. Despite the fact that I never owned a SOCOM game at the time of the franchise’s release era, I had the opportunity to play them at my uncle’s place every-so-often. When I first played SOCOM online, Zipper Interactive changed my impression of online gaming completely. The cooperation from my team was outstanding and the tactical mindset needed to make my way to victory was incredible.
