Classic Cheese: Cosmos: War of the Planets
October 5th, 2009I found this original intro (Spanish) title sequence for the classic Sci-Fi cheese-fest “Cosmos: War of the Planets”. This happens to be one of my favorite “So Bad that it’s good” movies.
All I can say is what a intro song!
I wonder why they changed it when it was dubbed in English.
New Line Cinema’s A Nightmare on Elm Street remake trailer
September 29th, 2009Here is the first trailer for the upcoming remake of Nightmare on Elm Street. It looks pretty good so far, hard to get used to a new Freddy when I grew up on years of the great Robert Englund. Hell, I remember when the first Nightmare hit theaters back in 1984!

[REC] 2 – Teaser Trailer
September 19th, 2009REC 2 trailer hits the net.
Here is a trailer for the follow-up to the excellent Spanish film [REC] (which was in my opinion better then the US remake Quarantine).
So far it looks good. Nice to see characters from the first REC.
Plan 9 from Outer Space remake… Yet another garbage remake!
September 14th, 2009I am a huge fan of Plan 9 from Outer Space. The movie is a classic because it is so bad that it is awesome. But now it seems there are “TWO” remakes in the works. And I am posting one of the trailers. I am speechless…
This my friend is a travesty… another “classic” remade for the almighty green God (dollar bills). I really do not remember Plan Nine from Outer Space being a zombie flick. I do not remember Tor Johnson trying to take a bite out of Kelton the Cop.
I dig zombie movies but this is just pure shit people… Another way for some Grade Z schmo to cash in on Ed Wood.

Voltage closes sales on Romero’s Survival Of The Dead
September 12th, 2009George A. Romero’s latest Zombie flick has sold in multiple territories.
Source: Screendaily.com
It is the first horror to be selected for Venice’s main competition since the festival’s debut year in 1932 when Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde was the opening film.
Voltage Pictures is handling the worldwide sales for the film, excluding the US. It has sold to Optimum Releasing (UK), Paradiso Entertainment (Benelux), Splendid Film (Germany), Presidio (Japan), Gulf Film Group (Middle East), Imagem Filmes (Brazil) and M Pictures Entertainment (Thailand). Negotitations for France and Italy are ongoing, while Spanish and Australian rights are still up for grabs.
E1 Entertainment will distribute Survival Of The Dead in Canada, which was also a co-producing country on the picture while John Sloss’ Cinetic will handle US sales. Cinetic also handled the domestic deal for Diary Of The Dead, which was picked up by The Weinstein Company.
Nadine de Barros, VP of Sales and Acquisitions for Voltage, said: “The reaction has been very enthusiastic. Domestic sales will be handled after the official Toronto premiere.”
The Survival Of The Dead will have a midnight screening in Toronto on September 12.
A Tribute to Charles McCrann
September 11th, 20091946 – September 11, 2001
The 1980’s were filled with tons of good and cheesy horror flicks. One of the cheesiest flick was “Toxic Zombies” AKA “Bloodeaters”. The film was about a bunch of drug smugglers who are infected by a toxic crop dusting. The film was written, produced, edited and also starred Chuck McCrann as the movies main character Tom Cole.
Toxic Zombies is one of those flicks you would put on when you have a bunch of friends over to have a good time. The movie is cheesy and good fun. The FX are cheap and the acting is amateur but for a movie that seems to have a shoe-string budget it manages to get the job done.
One interesting note about Toxic Zombie is the character “Phillips” which was played by actor John Amplas. Those in the horror community know John Amplas as the main character in George A. Romero’s vampire flick “Martin”. John Amplas was also in Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead.
Mr. McCrann was a senior vice president at Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. when he died at the age of 55 on September 11, 2001. From the various websites and tributes online I know that he was a devoted father and husband. He is survived by his wife Michelle and his children, Derek and Maxine. From what I read online, Chuck was a great man. He would bring Michelle a cappuccino in bed every morning. He also did his kids chores before he left for work that morning on September 11th. He seemed like the perfect family man.
I never met Chuck McCrann personally, but I felt I needed to give him a tribute on GNN. On September 11th, 2001 Michelle McCrann and her children lost a great, loving husband and father… we as a horror community lost a great fan of the horror genre.
Every September 11th I break out my copy of Toxic Zombies on DVD and watch… just a a tribute to him.

How Rob Zombie Destroyed the Halloween Franchise (Part 1 & 2)
September 9th, 2009It is no secret that I do not like Rob Zombie movies. I just do not get his movies nor do I care for his style. I grew up on Lucio Fulci, George A. Romero, John Carpenter, Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi and Dario Argento. Nothing in a horror flick can shock me these days.
While I was looking on the imdb I stumbled upon a very good, well-made document on youtube about Rob Zombie.
This was written and edited by Paul Zamarelli, this documentary is rich in detail about Zombie’s Halloween remake. I have to give Paul huge props for posting this documentary. You can tell that he did his homework. You can check his website out at HorrorIsDead.com.
This documentary is broken into 4 parts. Parts 1 and 2 are below…
